Mrs. Ngozi Theresa Umeano is an Information and Public Relations Officer. She is currently the Head of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources.
A native of Abagana in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State. She had her primary education at St. Michael’s Primary School, Abagana, and proceeded to Girls’ Secondary School, Abagana, Anambra State, for her secondary education. She later gained admission into Abia State University, Uturu, where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree. Upon graduation, she participated in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme and successfully completed her national service in 2002.
She began her career in the Federal Civil Service in September 2003 when she was appointed as an Information Officer at the then Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
In the course of her career, she has served in several strategic government institutions. Between 2007 and 2015, she served at the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Abuja, where she played a key role in information management and public communication activities of the Ministry.
From 2015 to 2020, she served at the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, where she rose to the position of Chief Information Officer.
In September 2020, Mrs. Umeano was for the second time redeployed to Ministry of Petroleum Resources and subsequently attained the rank of Assistant Director (Information).
She is a member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and an Associate Member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), reflecting her commitment to professional excellence and continuous development in the field of communication and public relations.
Mrs. Umeano is married and the marriage is blessed with children.
