Mrs. Patience Oyekunle was deployed as the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum Resources in November, 2025. She is a seasoned public servant with extensive experience in public administration, policy formulation and strategic management. She brings to her current role a strong track record of leadership, institutional reform, and inter-governmental coordination.
She has served in various capacities across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), where she contributed significantly to policy development, programmeimplementation, and service delivery reforms. Her professional experience spans key sectors including Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, OHCSF, Humanitarian Affairs, Aviation, Agriculture and Food Security,
She served in areas of Planning, Human Development, Policy and Regulation amongst others, with a demonstrated ability to manage complex government processes and multi-stakeholder engagements.
As Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Oyekunle provides overall administrative and policy leadership for the Ministry, ensuring effective implementation of government policies, compliance with extant rules and regulations and alignment with national development priorities. She is particularly committed to strengthening institutional capacity, promoting transparency and accountability as well as driving performance through the Performance Management System (PMS) in the Federal Civil Service.
Mrs. Oyekunle holds a Bachelor of Science and Master’s degree in Biochemistry and has attended several leadership, management and policy-oriented training programmes. She is widely regarded for her professionalism, strategic insights and results-oriented approach to public service. She served as Permanent Secretary OHCSF before her deployment to Ministry of Petroleum.
