The International Civil Service Conference (ICSC) 2025, held on June 24th–25th at Eagle Square, Abuja, marked a major milestone in Nigeria’s public sector reform efforts. The event brought together global experts, policymakers, and stakeholders to explore strategies for building a more effective, citizen-centric civil service.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu officially declared the conference open, highlighting the urgent need for a modern, efficient, and responsive bureaucracy. He also commended the introduction of Service-Wise GPT, Nigeria’s homegrown Artificial Intelligence tool designed to enhance the productivity of civil servants.
The Ministry of Petroleum Resources (MPR) featured prominently at the conference. Led by Mr. Usman Abdulkadir, Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, the Ministry’s 50-member delegation spanned all staff cadres. The Ministry’s exhibition booth attracted wide attention with displays centered on its mandate, policy formulation, implementation oversight, and regulation of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
Mr. Abdulkadir, who paid frequent visits to the booth, applauded the quality of exhibits and reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to reshaping public narratives through transparent communication and sectoral excellence. Several dignitaries also visited the stand, acknowledging the Ministry’s vital role in Nigeria’s energy transition and economic development.
As the curtains fell on ICSC 2025, one message was clear: Nigeria’s civil service is embracing a future anchored on innovation, global partnerships, and a renewed dedication to public service delivery.
