Special Duties Department

The Special Duties Department generally assist the Permanent secretary to provide the line supervision and general management of all staff of the office the Permanent Secretary, executive assigned project for the Permanent Secretary and mange direct reporting units on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, namely; Stock Verification Unit, Protocol Unit, and Anti- corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU).

Activities/Functions of the Units

  • Stock Verification Unit: Stock Verification Unit as a vital component within the Ministry responsible for ensuring accuracy and efficiency in inventory management. This Unit plays a crucial role in maintaining precise records of stock levels and validating the integrity of the inventory management system in the Ministry. The Unit also carries out verification on tender documents, contract agreements, and local purchase orders for supply to store, and conducts statutory inspections of Agencies under the supervision of the Ministry.
  • Protocol Unit: The Unit is responsible for processing passports, visas, and diplomatic notes for officials, ensuring compliance with diplomatic protocols, and coordinating travel and documentation for officers on official assignments.
  • Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit: The Unit is saddled with the responsibility of conducting preliminary investigation on any petition bordering on corruption or alleged corrupt practices by officers. The Unit also expand anti-corruption and preventive programmes.
