The workshop which held at the Amphi Theater Block A, NNPC Abuja, stood on a six pillar strategy plan viz: Capacity Building and Talent Management, Performance Management, Ippis-Human Resource, Innovation, Digitization-Content Services and Enhanced Value Proposition for Civil Servants, centered on strategic resolve to improve staff competencies, skills and productivity in the service.
In her welcome address, the Director, Reform Coordination and Service Improvement of the Ministry, Ms Emma Equere, stated that the workshop was critical to career growth of civil servants especially in the ongoing reforms in the civil service.
Speaking at the event, the Resource Person, Dr Ibrahim Kogbe, from the office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, stated that the ongoing reform in the civil service which FCSSIP 25 was a part of, was approved in December 2021, and was launched on 23rd June 2022 during the Federal Civil Service Week, in the State House by President Muhammadu Buhari, as a blue print geared towards achieving a globally accepted service standard, which represented a paradigm shift from the old order.
Furthermore, Dr Kogbe informed that most of the question now in civil service promotion exam from FCSSIP, was aimed at bringing in fresh crop of leadership and ideas into the system, he equally stated the need for culture of service re-orientation as a panacea for the success of these reforms.
In her closing remark, the Director Human Resource Management, Mrs. Asma’u Shehu Adaji reiterated that the gains of the training cannot be over emphasized and encouraged the Staff to put more effort in the subsequent training while thanking the Resource Person for his time as training now centered on capability, not capacity.
