The Permanent Secretary is the accounting officer of the Ministry and co-ordinates the activities of the Ministry on behalf of the Minister.

Responsibilities of the Permanent Secretary

The responsibilities of the Permanent Secretary include but not limited to the following:

  • Accounting Officer of the Ministry
  • Management, coordination and control of all human Resources and personnel matters in the Ministry
  • Exercises control and management of the financial resources of the Ministry, its Parastatals and Agencies with a view to achieving financial prudence and proper accountability of funds
  • Collates and prepares the Annual Budget of the Ministry and subordinate Parastatals and Agencies
  • Chairman of the Ministerial Tenders Board of the Ministry
  • Chairman of the Procurement Planning Committee of the Ministry
  • Supervises activities of Parastatals under the MPR
